Wanted one of these so bad. Almost bought a super clean low mileage example last spring. I drove it and realized some memories are better left as just that. 1985 high performance was just a bit different than today.

1985? If that was the year of the one you were looking at than that was the problem. They didn't get an intercooler until '86. The '86 and '87 models are the ones to have.

The 85 I looked at was such a super clean example. It was also the year I graduated high school and I wanted one so bad at that time, but there was no way I could make that happen.

I certainly get that, just saying the 85's were slugs compared to the 86-87 cars.
